Independence Day with Nature- Chikmagalur Getaway- Rani Jhari-Ballarayana Durga Fort

Visiting Chikmagalur District have always been on my to-do list. Indian Independence day being a holiday what is better plan to travel somewhere rather than lazily staying that home wasting life's precious time.

Enroute Charmadi Ghat

Called up a friend based in Ujire to accompany as a pillion rider for the ride to the western ghats. Date was set i.e 15 August 2017.

Couldn't sleep the whole night thinking about the outcome of the trip. So woke up early at 5:00am ,got ready . Checked the Scooter for any malfunction .Ready to ride. Get,Set,Go.. Chikmagalur here I come. Left Mangalore at 6:30 am . Took the Bangalore highway road and then after BC road took the left deviation the road leading to the Chikmagalur District . The ride was a solo one . I reached Ujire at 8:30 am. So the total time taken from Mangalore to Ujire was 1 and a half hour. Not bad...

Met up with my friend at Ujire at his home . Got freshen up and had home made breakfast food cooked by my friends aunt. The food was yummy. Had dosa ,coconut chutney and tea.

Took time to plan the rest of the day which place to visit, which route to take. Then after much discussion the route and place to visit was finalised.

The plan goes in like this.
1. Leave Ujire at 10:00 .
2. Stop at Charmadi Ghat for picture .
3. Proceed further to Kottigehera . Take rest ,have tea, lunch etc.
4. Visit Kelagur estate, the famous tea estate of the region.
5. Visit Ballarayana Durga Fort ,a well known place of the area.
6. Climb up the green hill .
7. On the way back plan was to visit my friend parents house which was on the way back.
8. Stay the night at Ujire.
9. Early morning travel back to Mangalore .

Charmadi Ghat
Stop For a Break to enjoy the View
Selfish Time ..:D :D :D

We left Ujire at around 10:00 am. Encountered the Charmadi Ghat section after some odd 30 Kms . The ride to the Ghat was smooth with lots of Hairpin bends here and there. It was an experience to remember riding and taking Hairpin turns with Scooter . Thank God🙏.

Saw a sign reading Welcome to Charmadi Ghat. The road was ok type . The picturised view of the Ghat section was very overwhelming . We stopped at Charmadi Ghat for some time. Took snaps of the area and the surrounding around.

On the way to Kottigehera we visited the only temple on the Ghat. Well people usually stopped by this temple to take blessings from God for safe travel through the Ghat section. We did it too.
